Message From Kathy Lum, Past President 2023-24
This past Saturday PDG Mark Merriam Held the presentation of the 2023-2024 Club Excellence Awards on FACEBOOK Live.  I was not able to make it due to a prior commitment. Because of the incredible work, meaningful service above self, community outreach and the collective commitment of all of you, I am so proud to share the awards that was presented to the Rotary Club of Mililani Sunrise:
 
  • Foundations Giving - First Place
  • Public Image - First runner up
  • Community Service - Frist Place
  • International Services - First Place
  • Largest percentage Membership Growth - First Place

  • The Spirit of Rotary Award goes to Dean Ueda is generally made to a newer member who has been extremely active in providing exemplary club service.
  • The Quiet Rotarian Award goes to Yolette Nishimoto recognizes a Rotarian whose diligent work epitomizes service to others without fanfare or desire for credit.

Kahau Gamboa is our latest recipient of the distinguished PAUL HARRIS FELLOW AWARD...meaning she has donated and/or received recognition points equivalent to at least $1,000.  Since Kehau is unable to attend our meetings due to her work schedule, President Wendell Nekota accepted her award form District Governor Ted Faigle this morning Wednesday, October 16, 2024.

I want to thank District Governor Ted Faigle for attending and inducting our
 officers for the new year.  Kathy Lum has done a outstanding job in leading us through this past year.  Her accomplishments are many and I hope to follow her direction and have continuity during this upcoming year. 
 
Our success as a Rotary organization in our community and the world will depend on the contributions from all of our members.  To our newer members, please stay engaged and involved in all of our club activities.  To our senior members, please continue to mentor our newer members through out our year.
 
We continue to stay in Rotary because of the people within and the good we do in our  communities.  Keep that thought in mind as we navigate the year.  Your officers are here to lead and assist in whatever way we can.  Help them accomplish our goals for the year.
 
In closing I want to thank everyone for attending and look forward to a great year.

Kathy Lum is working with D5000 to officially publicize our Paul's Shave-Off event as our fundraiser for World Polio Day on October 24.  We now have Yolette, Wendell, Paul, and myself matching you dollar-for-dollar up to $10.  Having said that, I think we can realistically set a goal of $500 (i.e., members donating a total of $100 and add in $400 match)
